Test Plans and Results

Test Discipline:  Brief what you fly.  Fly what you brief

(See Squawk sheet for specifics)

Ground Test

    Objectives:

Ground test 1

    Date: 27 May 08, 1635L

GT2&3

    Ground Test 2 test Card

31 July Took 3 times to get this done.  Had troubles with RPM.  Finally fixed. See Squawks

GT4&5

    Ground Test 3 test card

    EIS Data

11 Aug  Completed all ground testing

Initial Flight Test

Objectives:

F-1

Objective: Fly

    First Flight test card

    First flight EIS data

12 Aug  (.3 flight time) WOW.  Incredible.  The aircraft flew well. All temps in limits. Trimmed up hands off

F-2

Objective: cruise high power to break in engine.  General handling.  Record data.

2nd Flight card

14 Aug.  (.2)  Cut short because of low fuel pressure.  Turned out to be nothing.

Observations: Post flight removed filter and gasolator.  Both had very little debris.  Small wood fibers.  Probably from cleaning stick. Discussion with Jabiru and other Jabiru fliers said that my reading were normal. One thing that Pete at Jabiru pointed out was that the pressure sender is at the limit of it's accuracy.  So variation is normal.  Conclusion: Will continue to monitor and change limit in EIS to .6

F-3

Objective: cruise high power to break in engine.  General handling.  Record data.

3rd Flight (Same cards as 2)

F-3 EIS

17 Aug  (1.3)  Everything worked fine.  6 Touch and Gos.

Observations:

EGT was consistently higher on on Left (#6) side.   Tail pipe was sooty indicating rich mixture.  Conclusions: will rotate Carb and check a plug in each cylinder prior to next flight.

CHT was fine.  #1 Cylinder still much cooler.

Trim ran out in nose up,  probably need to adjust stab angle.

    Oil pressure and Temp fine.

Normal cruise fuel pressure varies from 1.2 to 1.9 with BP off.  Full throttle it will drop to about .9.  Boost pump on about 3.0 psi.  In the pattern during climbout turned BP off.  Fuel pressure again dropped less than .6 (new limit). Initially turned BP back on and pressure came up.  Climbed up over field and turned BP off.  Pressure dropped and stabilized at about .8.  Conclusions.  Will turn BP on in the pattern.

F-4

Objective: Continue break in, resolve EGT balance, Touch and gos, Initial look at trim conditions.

Engine Performance

The biggest impact I had was adding the flow divider and new needle jets.
