Squawks and Lessons Learned.

These details give further explanation to the squawk sheet.  Also note there is a tab for the condition inspection (50 hour)

Squawk #1 Fuel Leak

This is the Fuel leak I had.  The vent tube had a small leak so that when I did the leak check it would not show up since I had this sealed.  The fuel was leaking from inside the tube.  This was a good thing.  All I needed to do was to put some Proseal on a long tube and dab it around the junction.  Fuel leak solved.

Squawk #3 Canopy

Lots of problems with the canopy.  Ended up with multiple cracks.  Was able to stop drill most.  Till I got this one.  See Canopy section for lessons learned

This was the worse crack.  There was too much to stop drill.  Time to replace.  Biggest problem was expansion and contraction over time.  It worked fine till the temperature started changing.

Wasn't that hard to remove.

When I did it cracked all the way.

New one from Zenith.  Tried to order a Todd's but when I talked to him he wasn't selling them any more for Zodiacs

Big change was to properly chamfer the edges.  Ended up going half the thickness

The other thing was to put some silicone tape on the tube.  Then a rubber washer on the Tinnerman washer and a piece of tube on the screw.  This really worked well.  It ended up putting tension on the screw that helps hold it in place.  SO DO THIS if nothing else.

Here you can see the details.  I also left off the forward flashing.  Got a much better forward seal.
