Electrical Design and Panel layout

First I have to say the the best reference I have found is The AeroElectric Connection http://www.aeroelectric.com/ .  This is really a fantastic resource and I believe a must.

I also have been using Delta Cad for my wire diagrams.  AeroElectric has their wire diagrams in autocad.  I translated them into a .dxf file then into .dc for Delta Cad.  I really like Delta Cad and have used it for many other projects.  You can get a demo from their Website.

It is also in PDF

I have incorporated much of AeroElectric's Z-16 which has an endurance bus, an over volt "crowbar" and a low voltage indicator.  Here is the philosophy.

One major failures are a failure of the voltage regulator which could fry you avionics.  The crow bar detects the condition and trips the 5 Amp breaker and removes the Alternator from the system.

Another is a failure of the alternator which will cause the system to run off of the battery. If this occurs the low voltage sensor will flash. By placing the master switch off and turning on the endurance bus on you will have only those items that are necessary for continued flight.

Here is the final configuration.  I have made some changes. I got rid of the Jabiru Solenoid since it is really redundant with the 702-1,  I also moved the Ammeter and shunt to read off of the battery. This will give a better look at the charge / discharge rate of the battery.  I also moved some of the circuits to the fuse block.  Really shouldn't need the CBs on everything.  I have tried to keep it to a minimum.

I used Xpanel to design the panel.  A Beta version is available from

http://www.xpanel.com/

Here is what I am planning.  It is still in work.  I have the Dynon EFIS in the layout. I want to have room for it but will not have it in the first config.  So I will plan on it and move the Turn Coord to center position and leave room to move it to the left.

I am going to use a throttle quadrant on the side of the fuse rather than the vernier type.  I never have liked the throttles in Cessnas. When I push up the throttle for a touch and go I will be able to push in the carb heat feel that the boost pump is in and raise the flaps.

I got the color AirMap2000.  I am also going to go with the Grand Rapids EIS

The center console will have the starting panel.  This way none of these switched should normally be operated in flight.  So less likely to inadvertently shut something down.
