Control Cable Routing
I wanted to see how the cables and fairleads worked before I rivet the sides and close the fuse. I figured it would be easier to get at stuff with the sides off. I had planned on putting the Strobe box in this location. Even have the nutplates mounted. Didn't realize I didn't have clearance with the stick. Oh well. I will move it. |

I had a hard time figuring out how the cable runs went. So I tied strings to the controls and ran them to help visualize. Once laid up it was much easier. One thing is I could not see from the plans was that the lower elevator cable moves with the toque tube. It looked like it would not fit or not have clearance. But once dry fit it works fairly well. I was concerned about how much clearance there was on the aileron crank and the rudder cables. Here you can see the left rudder cable close to the crank. There is really not a lot of movement here. I calculate out the distances from the plans on my Deltacad and came up with +/- 16 mm as the required movement left and right on the crank. This was plenty of clearance but the left cable here is kind of close to the turn buckle on the aileron. |

I added another fairlead, you can see it in the hole. This moved it up so there is clearance now. This isn't the greatest angle. But it looks better. |

Here is a view from the front |

You can see the general arrangement. |
This is looking aft and you can see the clearance on the cables. From left to right is the right rudder cable, the lower elevator cable, the upper elevator cable and left rudder cable. |
Here I have the yoke to the left about full deflection, about 16 mm or 12 degrees of aileron. Note the clearance. |
This is a right turn and you can see the clearance again. The lower elevator cable is under the torque tube. |

Another view of the general arrangement. I haven't put the forward fairleads for the rudder yet. |
I changed the arrangement of the forward fairleads slightly. I wanted to retain some of the space below the fairleads to allow more room for wires and Pitot static lines. |
From the forward view. I moved the location of the right hand side to give a little more room for the rudder cable. It may not look as symmetric as I would have liked, but functionally it is much better. |
Here are the rear fairleads. Again you can see I changed my mind and moved one of the holes. |
OK now that I have all of the interior arrangement it is time to start riveting! |
I had a challenge with the #10 fasteners. |
Here you can see the clearance on the bolts that attach the seat belt bracket. A little close. It will work but it is tighter than I had planned. |

Probably more important than riveting is deciding what not to rivet. I will need to remove these brackets in order to install the baggage floor. |

All done and out of the way for a while. |
